Real-Estate Agent to Avoid

I have never liked real-estate agents. I never understood their purpose. I mean: they are your typical door-to-door sales people that take a commission on selling other people’s property. What’s their added value anyway?

But now there is one that is starting to piss me off, big time! The most renowned real-estate agent in Turnhout is selling my house. And in the process, they are only adding to my dislike. They have absolutely showed no respect for my property and for me as an owner. They leave the doors unlocked when they visit the house with potential buyers; that has happened to me twice. They leave windows unlocked and the blinds open. They don’t close doors in the house. And despite 2 formal complaints, they continue to do so.

If you’re looking for a real-estate agent, best stay away for this one.

Cisco CCNP Recertification

Cisco CCNPI am a Cisco certified engineer since the end of 2000; a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) to be exact. The certification is valid for 3 years. After 3 years one has to pass an exam to recertify.

I was supposed to recertify my Cisco CCNP certification before April 5th. I passed the exam today. Yippeeeeeeee! I’m really happy about this. The exams get tougher every time and I was not looking forward to cramming for the exam. Passing this test is a little speck of light in an otherwise pitch black night.

It took a lot of work, and I did not succeed at my first try. But I did succeed in the end. And that’s what counts. I can pride myself on being Cisco certified for the next 3 years.

Globalization Stinks!

I don’t think I’ve ever wrote something work related on my blog. Today’s gonna be a first ‘cause I am fed up with getting called in the middle of the night for nothing.

I get a call at 2:10H in the morning about a customer having a problem with a network router. So I get dressed, get in my car and drive for an hour to get to the customer’s site. As I get close to the site, I call the site contact to get final directions. I usually do this. It’s the middle of the night and it’s not always very easy to find a specific street address. The site contact sounds surprised when I tell him were I am. He says I am at a wrong site. I call the customer’s network control center: a big global company in a faraway place. I explain what’s goin’ on to an anonymous voice. They check the information, tell me that “their database is a mess”, apologize for the mistake and send me on my way back home.

As companies get bigger and start to work global, this is happening more often to me. Language barriers, outdate databases, crappy procedures… You name it. And call center agents don’t care about these things. They don’t even know that they’re calling someone in the middle of the night. In the end the one that gets called in the middle of the night is suffering from all these problems. He’s loosing sleep and sure as hell is getting no respect. That’s globalization for you…

Photographers’ Day Out

A bunch of photographers and models from photograaf.be and modellennet.be got together yesterday for a little party.

Ludwig and Joy invited us to their home for a photo shoot. I had helped them out on Thursday and Friday night to prepare them for this get-together. In return, they promised me, I could use their space to work on a little project I have in mind.

I won’t post photos from the project yet as I’m still working on it. However, I will share some photos from another shoot I did yesterday. Eef was kind enough to work with me on the “secret” project. And as we started talking, we came up with a few other things as well.

A big thanks to Eef of course for posing. I sure hope we can get together some time in the near future for another shoot.

In the evening Bart Boodts threw us a little ‘80s party with him and Gerd Van den Broeck treating us to some of the best ‘80s and ‘90s hits. It was a lot of fun. Met some great new people. Thanks all you guys!

Cover Me

The times are tough now, just getting tougher
This old world is rough, it’s just getting rougher
Cover me, come on baby, cover me
Well I’m looking for a lover who will come on in and cover me
Promise me baby you won’t let them find us
Hold me in your arms, let’s let our love blind us
Cover me, shut the door and cover me
Well I’m looking for a lover who will come on in and cover me

Outside’s the rain, the driving snow
I can hear the wild wind blowing
Turn out the light, bolt the door
I ain’t going out there no more

This whole world is out there just trying to score
I’ve seen enough I don’t want to see any more,
Cover me, come on and cover me
I’m looking for a lover who will come on in and cover me

Long Time no Photos

Haven’t done a photo shoot in a very long time.

When Helene approached me and told me she had been a gymnast for a number of years, I gave it a go. I found a school with a gymnasium. Shooting gymnast pictures was a lot harder than expected. Light was certainly an issue. But still, I managed to get a few good photos.

I want to thank Helene for the shoot. It was more of an effort for her than for me. More of the shoot with Helene right here.

Web Design

I don’t feel like doing a lot right now. I have hardly any interest
in the world around me.

To keep my mind off of things, I’ll look at some photo websites from time to time. One of them gave me an idea for a new design for the DIFO website. I Worked on it in my free time all last week. I’m happy with the result, so are my colleagues at DIFO. It made me a bit happy.

Layout for DIFO website v2

One?

Is it getting better, or do you feel the same?
Will it make it easier on you, now you got someone to blame?
You say one love, one life, when it’s one need in the night.
One love, we get to share it
Leaves you baby if you don’t care for it.Did I disappoint you or leave a bad taste in your mouth?
You act like you never had love and you want me to go without.
Well, it’s too late tonight to drag the past out into the light.
We’re one, but we’re not the same.
We get to carry each other, carry each other… one Have you come here for forgiveness,
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus to the lepers in your head
Did I ask too much, more than a lot
You gave me nothing, now it’s all I got.
We’re one, but we’re not the same.
Well, we hurt each other, then we do it again.

You say love is a temple, love a higher law
Love is a temple, love the higher law.
You ask me to enter, but then you make me crawl
And I can’t be holding on to what you got, when all you got is hurt.

One love, one blood, one life, you got to do what you should.
One life with each other: sisters, brothers.
One life, but we’re not the same.
We get to carry each other, carry each other.
One, one.
