Studio Shoot with Apertura

Fooled around in the studio today with my colleagues of Apertura. The 1st time in a long time I shot in the studio again. The 1st time since I have my new Canon EOS 7D camera. And here’s a couple of images of that shoot.

There is more…

And of course, I had to try the movie capabilities of my new body. This is my 1st effort at doin’ a behind-the-scenes video: Stephanie and Glenn in action.

Thanks to Stephanie for modeling and being very patient with me. Thanks to Babs for doin the makeup. And to my colleagues Glenn and Jurgen for their assistance.

BelgiumDigitalLive

Belgium Digital is the biggest forum for photography in Belgium. Today, they had a big birthday party to celebrate their 10th anniversary. They gathered in San Marco Village just outside of Antwerp for a day filled with workshops and entertainment.

A great day to meet friends and acquaintances. A great day to brush up on some photographic techniques and to be inspired by colleagues.

The nice thing about these events and workshops, is that it gives everyone a chance to experiment. And sometimes all you need is 2 minutes to shoot something that has a potential to become exciting.

Kite Festival in Knokke

Starting today, I’ve got a week of from work. Got lots of plans for the week: lots of things that involve a camera.

Today, I was at the beach all afternoon: trying to shoot some action shots at the international Kite Festival in Knokke. It was a nice sunny day, but just not enough wind I guess. ’cause I didn’t get to see too much action. Expect for a couple of guys tryin’ some tricks on a mountain board.

And this young lady caught my eye. The scene made me think of a sunny winter afternoon even though today was nice and sunny.

PhotoVaganza IV

Yesterday’s 4th edition of PhotoVaganza seemed to be a success. Gert and I received a lot of thank you notes. Makes me very happy.

I have been a little busy and preoccupied lately, so Gert did most of the work for this edition. And he did well! Thanks for your effort Gert! I managed to give Gert a little hand the last couple of days and by 10’o clock, we were ready.

People start arriving a few at a time: familiar faces, but also a lot of new faces. Some eager to shoot, others a little bashful and unfamiliar with the concept. But when they saw what was goin’ on, those feelings quickly disappeared. And by 6pm, we had a nice crowd gathering for the traditional pizza buffet.

And then, after the crowd had left and the lights went down, it was time for a little fun with my closest friends…

Luc, Glenn, Alain and myself had a little impromptu shoot with our favorite models: Mariana and Eef. Big fun!!!

PhotoVaganza IV

Next Saturday, September 5, 2009 in CC de Schrijnwerkerij, Geel: the 4th edition of PhotoVaganza, an event for models, photographers, stylists, make-up artists and more. You are kindly invited.

Miss Fashion 2010 at the Lommelse Sahara

My friends of Apertura, myself and my new lovely friends of Miss Fashion 2010 set up camp in the dunes of the Lommelse Sahara for the 2nd of 3 shoots we’re doin’ together. Hard work and a sunny day turned the shoot in a lot of fun… The little side project and dinner was great fun too…

Here’s a couple of shots of the team in action.

I guess that our make-up artists had the toughest job this time. They had to work in harsh conditions: wind and sand gave them everything but a clean working environment.

Miss Fashion Ladies at X Beach

I promised a couple of shots from the Miss Fashion fashion show at the X Beach the other day. Finished post processing yesterday evening, so here it goes… Enjoy…

2nd Shooter at a Wedding

I had the pleasure of bein’ an assistant and 2nd shooter to my friend Bart Henseler at the Wedding of Cindy & Bruno. While Bart was discussing some of the upcoming shots with the happy couple, I took a typical shot of the bride’s flower arrangement. I kinda like it, so I’ld like to share it.

Miss Fashion 2010

How does one spend a rainy Sunday in the middle of Summer? Get together your photo buddies, find a bunch of models and head down to a secret location in Antwerp. And that’s just what I did today…

My buddies at Apertura and I had planned a shoot in Antwerp with the contestants of Miss Fashion 2010. We didn’t plan on the rainy day weather though. But it did not spoil the fun: we had a great location in the heart of Antwerp. Plenty of room to shoot and have a day of photo fun. Hard work, a lot of laughs and great food. What more does one need to spend his Sunday?

Even our the Apertura junior members joined the fun. It was a lot of fun to see young Jens working with Evelien Breakman, Miss Fashion 2009, as a pro.

photo

Right now, I can only show behind the scenes shots. The real deal is embargoed until the end of October.

I had a great time! Thanks to everyone involved: An, Rudi, the makeup artists, Karin, Melissa, the Apertura gang and not in the least the girls for Miss Fashion 2010.

Jets over Pampa

The NATO air force target practice range of Houthalen-Helchteren is home to PMF (Pampa Modelfighters).  They are host to Jets over Pampa: an international air show for model planes. This year’s edition was #19.

photo

Great fun to see those baby F-16, Starfighters and F-4 buzz the practice range. And with top speeds of up to 300 km/h they’re just as hard to photograph as their big brothers.

Quite a common sight at Pampa fields: a baby Viper.

photo

But this one has flown there since the 1970’s I guess: an F-104 Starfigther.
