For a long time, I had this crazy idea of shooting in my Bathroom. I know… It’s been done before. And it will be done again. But since I knew it was going to be a challenge to properly light the scene, I wanted to try it myself.
Finding a model wasn’t difficult at all. Mariana, one of my favorite models, was kind enough to work with me on this shoot. It turned out to be not as easy as it looks. Lighting was difficult, finding poses that work too. There is certainly room for improment, but we were both pleased with the result tough.
Once again: thank you Mariana for your patience and your cooperation! You’re the best!
Lookin’ for a good restaurant in Antwerp? I’ve got a tip for you… Try Bizzie Lizzie. Luc and I just enjoyed dinner there tonight: great food, great service. We made reservations via DiningCity’s Restaurant Week.
I just got back from a 3 day trip to London. Saw my 28th Bruce Springsteen show last Friday. Bruce and the band played for 3 whole hours. It was my longest show so far. And what a show it was! He played a couple of my favorites that I had never had seen live before: Point Blank and Glory Days (finally!).
I love the stories he tells in his songs. They are a source of inspiration and consolation. I’m gonna have to admit: Bruce is God!
The rest of the weekend was very relaxing, shopping time and lots of fun. Thank you Alain and Anouk for keeping up with me. Even if I kept you up all night with my snoring and breaking glasses.
We’ve introduced monthly shooting days at Apertura. Every last Sunday of the month, the whole gang packs up and head down to a nice location for a day of fun and shooting. This month’s stop: the abandoned buildings of the Waterschei coal mine.
Me is not a fan of getting’ up early in the morning. So I was in for a rough start, but as the day progressed, I got in the mood. And by the time we had to go home, I was even pretending to be a model (see previous post).
At the end of the day, we wanted to do a group pic. We ended up using as many flashes as we could; 10 in total. Just for fun! This is the whole gang…
I’ll be responsible for next month’s shoot. I’d better get to work and make sure it’s just as big a success as today was.
I added a workshop at the Waterschei coal mine today. The very first time, I worked with a nude model. Pfff… This is hard work. I’m used to working with models, but today was a whole different ballgame. And I realized I still have a long way to go in this sort of photography. But still: a big thank you to the models today, and also to the guys who organized the workshop.
I joined a group of strobist photographers for a day of experimenting with off camera speedlight flashes. Bob, a fellow photographer at Apertura, organized a Belgium Digital shooting day on the matter.
Quite the learning experience it was. But at least some of my experiments turned out fine. Here’s an example:
This was shot with 3 flashes triggered with IR and natural light for the background and hair light.
Thank you Mariana and Iza for the shoot. It was great to have you there! Thanks for your patience.
