I am gonna go and get on my way to Elckerlyc theatre and cheer on my dear friend Shannety. She is competing for the title of Miss Fashion 2016. And tonight is the big moment: the finals are tonight.
I wish my little girl the best of luck and I hope she’s gonna have a lot of fun on stage. And just to cheer her on, I’ll share a couple photos from our latest photo shoot.
GO SHANNETY!!!
Magalie and I worked together a couple of times over the summer: she joined us in the Ardennes for a bikini photo shoot, and we collaborated on the 20 Shades of Orange photo shoot.
She is leaving for Turkey later this week to compete in an international beauty pageant. She asked me to shoot a couple of formal beauty portraits to support her campaign. This very royal photo is one of the photos we did for that campaign.
The 2015 Sanicole airshow had a couple of special formations flying for us. Earlier, I posted a photo of the Breitling Super Constellation leading the Patrouille Suisse. That is a formation that is not often flow.
But this picture of our the Belgian F-16 Demo leading a formation with the leaders of 5 major European demonstration teams is probably a very rare sight. Capt. Tom De Moortel of 31 squadron out of Kleine Brogel AFB is flying the Belgian F-16 Demo with on his wing the leaders of the RAF Red Arrows, the Italian Frecce Tricolori, the French Air Force’s Patrouille de France and Patrouille Suisse.
They flew this formation at the sunset show on Friday. And I can remember the speaker saying something about how unique this formation was. He also saying something about how beautiiful the moon was that evening, and how some lucky photographer would capture a nice photo with the moon in the back. Take another look at my photo… I guess I was the fortunate son.
A couple of weeks ago, Jessy said she fancied another latex shoot. It had been quite awhile since our last photo shoot. A few days later, I had an open spot for a location shoot at Hof Ten Steen. So I asked Jessy if she was free and wanted to join us. She almost right away said ‘yes!’.
I gave her the choice of attire, and she choose this lovely white & transparent latex dress by Mademoiselle Ilo. Does she look cute or what?
I just got back from the Sanicole airshow: awesome show, beautiful sunny day with friends, and great for shooting some pictures. And… A day for 1st encounters: I’ve been going to airshows for over 20 years but I’ve never seen a Lockheed Constellation fly. Until today that is.
And I was very fortunate indeed. Sanicole airshow is famous for putting together special formations. Having Patrouille Suisse escort the Breitling Super Constellation surely is one of those extraordinary formations.
Ballet heels are fun! And if they ain’t fun, they are at least intriguing to a lot of models. And Evelien was surely keen on trying them. Those white overknee ballet heels from Kassiopeya and the little grey latex dress from Westward Bound turn out to be a great combo.
Evelien started out a little shy, later had the giggles but then she got a grip on the situation and turned out this shot. Needless to say we had a blast shooting this.
Belgium government is discussing the replacement of our trusted F-16 fighters somewhere in the near future. I hate to see them go. But as long as they’re there, I love to watch the solo display of the Belgium Air Force.
The BAF F-16 is flown by Capt. Tom De Moortel, call sign GIZMO, of 31 squadron at Kleine Brogel AFB this year. The show is spectacular especially if they fly it at sunset like they did yesterday at Sanicole airshow.
Meet Ines. This beautiful young lady caught my attention during the semi-finals of Miss Fashion earlier this year. I told her I liked her radiant smile, and asked if she would fancy a photo shoot with me. She accepted my invitation.
Even though she did not have a lot of experience with modeling, she did well. It was was actually very easy to work with her. Not only does Ines have a pretty face and a radiant smile, she also turns out the be very nice too.
If she agrees, I will happily collaborate with her a couple of times in 2016.
Limu salad is a Hawaiian side dish, often served with as a side with Poke. Traditionally, Limu salad is made with fresh seaweed–after all limu is the Hawaiian word for seaweed–but as that is hard to find in Belgium, I replaced the seaweed with samphire.
It is a simple recipe that will get you a very tasty salad on the table in minutes.
Preparation method: (serves 2)
Blanch the samphire for a minute or 2 in boiling water and refresh it right away in an ice bath to keep it vibrant green and crispy. When cooled, drain. Half the cherry tomatoes, cut the onion and the cucumber is strips. Add the veggies to a bowl and mix.
For the dressing, crush the garlic and the pink rock salt in a pestle and mortar to a paste. Add the sherry vingear and the Shoyu sauce and fresh chili pepper to taste. Shoyu sauce should be available from Asian specialty stores but you could replace it with soy sauce if you want.
Dress the veggies with the dressing right before serving. That will keep the veggies nice and crunchy, and prevent them from discoloring.
Ingredients:
- 100gr samphire
- small white onion
- 5 or 6 cherry tomatoes in various colors
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 tea spoon of (Hawaiian) pink rock salt
- 2 table spoons of Shoyu sauce
- 2 table spoons of sherry vingear
- chili peper
I have a busy schedule the next couple of months: between work, redecorating, my travel plans, and the planned photo shoots, there won’t be a lot of time for a lot more plans. And it pains me to see that I have nothing planned with the lovely Elise. I must really do something about that. And for now, I’ll just have to settle for this pic from our latest portrait session.
