Happy Holidays

So this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
Ans so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let’s hope it’s a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so happy Christmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let’s stop all the fight
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let’s hope it’s a good one
Without any fear
And so this is Christmas
And what have we done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
Ans so this is Christmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young
A very merry Christmas
And a happy New Year
Let’s hope it’s a good one
Without any fear
War is over over
If you want it
War is over

Geocache “De Kleppende Klipper”

We had made plans to do a little geocaching with friends today.

We started of the day with a revisit to the Hoolstmolen geocache (GCPYZW). I could find the stash last Tuesday. I got a few tips from fellow geocachers this time. With the help from their tips we were able to locate the stash pretty fast. We took the time to log this cache and take a few photos before heading to the main attraction for the day: De Kleppende Klipper geocache (GCMY3P).

The weather was just excellent for a little Sunday afternoon walk. It was a bit chilly maybe but very sunny, hardly any clouds. Excellent weather for photography too. Cache was easy to find. Would have been a nice spot for a picknick. Here’s a few photo’s.

“Born to Run 30th” Anniversary Release Party

Bruce Springsteen - Born to RunThe release date for the Born to Run 30th Anniversary box is drawing near. Just a few more days… After tonight, I can hardly wait. Sony-BMG and my good friends at Be True had organized a private screening of the concert DVD that comes with the box. I had to drive all the way up to Almere for it, but it was worthwhile. We got to see part of the concert in world premiere. It is just wow!

This is just the best of Springsteen on DVD I’ve ever seen. Although the concert dates back from 1975, the picture quality is good. And Bruce and the band are ROCKIN’! On top of that, the interview with many current and former band members is insightful: I was surprised about how many different takes of the Born to Run songs were recorded. Both DVD truly are an addition to the original Born to Run album.

Hoolstmolen Geocache

Wasn’t as lucky today as I was yesterday: couldn’t find the geocache I had planned for today. I know the site quite well, ‘cause I visited that mill several times with my grandmother as a little kid. After reading the cache log, it seems I am not the first one who can not find this cache. I’ll have to return to the Hoolstmolen cache (GCPYZW) with reinforcements to help me look. Hopefully we can find it next Sunday.

2 Weeks for Photographing and Geocaching

I’m having 2 weeks of from work. Plenty of time to spend some time photographing and geocaching. I started today by hunting down geocache GCQPWF. This cache is very close to home, so I can not leave it untouched. The foliage overhead resulted in poor GPS reception, I had to look for quite some time before I found. But I did manage to find it in the end.

Rolling Stones Fan Day (part 2)

I went to the 2nd annual international Rolling Stones fan day yesterday. A friend of mine is an active member with Sticky Fingers, the Belgian Rolling Stones fan club. It was a fun evening with lots and lots for rock’n’roll. They had 2 tribute bands on stage and I promised my friend I would shoot some photos. I’ve put a few photos from yesterday night on my gallery.

DIFO Member

I joined DIFO, a photography club in Oud-Turnhout yesterday. I feel small compared to all those photographers with many years of experience behind them.

I showed them 2 of my photos from our New York trip and shot I took at the German WWII cemetery. I got a few helpful tips for the future on how to improve the shots, but overall they liked my work. Made me feel a little proud. I’m sure I’m gonna have a lot of fun working with the DIFO members.

Baseball Thriller

I’ve been watching Major League Baseball all week this week. Digital TV is a great invention! You know I don’t like to watch sports on TV. I’m just not a big fan of sports. But since we’ve got digital TV, we can watch NASN, and they’ve got MLB playoffs right now.

And I just love to watch a game of baseball. I’m a big fan of the Atlanta Braves. Probably an heritage from my Barco days. Anyway, today was game 4 of the National League playoffs and the Braves had to beat the Houston Astros to stay in the race. The Braves were playing a pretty good game until the Astros hit a grand slam in the 7th inning and tied the game in the 8th. It took another 10 innings to decide the game. I’ve never been so excited over sports as I was tonight. But why did the Braves have to lose? Dasm, would have loved to see them win the World Series.

London Riverwalk

Before goin’ home, we went for a walk along the banks of the river Thames. We took the time to shoot some photos of the London Eye and Big Ben. I was surprised to see how quickly this weekend has passed. Fortunately, London is not far away and it’s easy to come back to.
