Before-and-After Challenge

Joeri el Hazimi passed a photo challenge down to me: pick 3 of your photos and post them in the original version and the retouched version. Then pass on the challenge to 3 other photographers. Thomas Bouve came up with this brilliant idea. And you know me… I find it hard to refuse a challenge like that.

Before showing my 3 photos, I would like to pass the challenge down to:

And now… Without further a due… Here are mine…

Website Theme Update

Finally got around to updating this website’s theme. It was long overdue. And it only took me a couple of hours. Pffff… another short night.

Vintage Logo

vintagelogoI came across the very 1st version of my logo today. The design is almost 25 years old. I made it with a Commodore 64 and colored it by hand. The logo was inspired by the ’80s cult series “V“.

This copy was almost faded away. I had to digital enhance the silly thing.

Miss Fashion (2)

We invaded the little beach at the Lommelse Sahara today for another shoot with the Miss Fashion 2009 finalists. Tents, flashes, camera’s… we turned it into a regular d-day. At the end of the day, 6 photographers were flashing away at the edge of the water. It looked like a nasty thunderstorm.

It resulted in a few good shots; at least for me…

Dasm! Again!

Springsteen must be psychic, ’cause I have had this song on my mind for a couple of weeks. And the he goes ahead and opens the show for the fans in St. Louis, MO with it. Just ain’t fair to us poor European fans.

And then She Kissed Me is song Phil Spector wrote for The Crystals in 1963. The Beach Boys also recorded a version of this song.

Bollekesfeesten in Antwerp

I went to the Antwerp photo museum with a friend this afternoon. I try to go there a couple of times per year and check out the new expos. I guess it is just an other excuses to see more photos.

Later in the afternoon, we went downtown, and ended up at the Bollekesfeesten. Serveral restaurants had put little stalls all around the Groenplaats. So we stuck around and decided to try some of the food there. And we like good food… So deciding what to try is not easy for us. Glass of Cava, some dim sums and sushi to start with. Main course at restaurant Hokfe van Bazel, a glass of wine and double shot of desserts. And all of a sudden deciding wasn’t so hard anymore.

And good folks of Antwerp, just for the record: I AM NOT GAY!

New Talent

Couldn’t sleep… Just could not resist the temptation of posting these. Shot just yesterday, and too cute not to show…

Globalization or Democratic Freedom?

I start up in the north I grow from special seed
I sprinkle it with sensibility
from French and Hungarian snow
I linger in the sprouting until my engine’s full

Then I move across the sea
To European bliss
To language of poets
As I cut the cord of home
I kiss my mother’s mother
look to the horizon

wide eyed, new ground
humbled by my new surroundings

I am a citizen of the planet
My president is kwan yin
My frontier is on an airplane
my prisons: homes for rehabilitating

Then I fly back to my nest,
I fly back with my nuclear but everything is different
So I wait, my yearn for home is broadened,
patriotism expanded by callings from beyond
So I pack my things nothing precious all things sacred

I am a citizen of the planet
My laws are all of attraction
My punishments are consequences
Separating from source the original sin

I am a citizen of the planet
democracy’s kids are sovereign
Where the teachers are the sages
And pedestals fill with every parent

And so, the next few years are blurry,
the next decade’s a flurry of smells and tastes unknown
Threads sewn straight through this fabric
through fields of every color one culture to another

I come alive and I get giddy I am taken and globally naturalized
I am a citizen of the planet
From simple roots through high vision
I am guarded by the angels
My body guides the direction I go in

I am a citizen of the planet
My favorite pastime edge stretching
Besotten with human condition
these ideals are borne from my deepest within
