I have planned a server migration on Friday, August 7 between 20:00H and 24:00H CET (18:00 to 22:00H UTC). This website and the partner websites will not be available at that time. I will also not be available via e-mail during that period.
I have decided to move my hosting at Combell to a bigger, more flexible hosting service. Hence this server migration.
How does one spend a rainy Sunday in the middle of Summer? Get together your photo buddies, find a bunch of models and head down to a secret location in Antwerp. And that’s just what I did today…
My buddies at Apertura and I had planned a shoot in Antwerp with the contestants of Miss Fashion 2010. We didn’t plan on the rainy day weather though. But it did not spoil the fun: we had a great location in the heart of Antwerp. Plenty of room to shoot and have a day of photo fun. Hard work, a lot of laughs and great food. What more does one need to spend his Sunday?
Even our the Apertura junior members joined the fun. It was a lot of fun to see young Jens working with Evelien Breakman, Miss Fashion 2009, as a pro.
Right now, I can only show behind the scenes shots. The real deal is embargoed until the end of October.
I had a great time! Thanks to everyone involved: An, Rudi, the makeup artists, Karin, Melissa, the Apertura gang and not in the least the girls for Miss Fashion 2010.
The NATO air force target practice range of Houthalen-Helchteren is home to PMF (Pampa Modelfighters). They are host to Jets over Pampa: an international air show for model planes. This year’s edition was #19.
Great fun to see those baby F-16, Starfighters and F-4 buzz the practice range. And with top speeds of up to 300 km/h they’re just as hard to photograph as their big brothers.
Quite a common sight at Pampa fields: a baby Viper.
But this one has flown there since the 1970’s I guess: an F-104 Starfigther.
A couple of shots from today’s session with Sabrina. What started out as a shoot in a grain field turned into a great portrait session.
It had been a while since I worked one-on-one with a model. I had fun! Thanks Sabrina for a great shoot despite the rainy weather. And also a big thank you to Luc for bein’ my VALS for the evening.
Today marks the 40th anniversary of the 1st man walking on the moon. Although I wasn’t born in 1969, it still is a defining moment for me: I remember bein’ mesmerized by photos from the Apollo missions. Those images triggered my interest in space exploration and eventually helped trigger my interest in science and technology, I guess.
It is amazing how much we’ve accomplished in those 40 years, and yet we still have a long way to go…
Tomorrow is Belgium’s National Holiday. Every year, on July 21, we celebrate our independence from the Dutch in 1830. I thought I’d start the festivities by posting the lyrics to the Brabançonne, our National Anthem.

In over 200 cities around the world, photographers gathered for Scott Kelby‘s 2nd Annual Worldwide Photo Walk. I joined a group of 50 photo enthusiasts for a 2 mile walk through Antwerp looking for an award winning shot.
I don’t think any of my work will be award winning, but at least I had a good time.
Instead of focusing on people as usual, I tried something else for a change: abstracts. And this is what I saw:
