With KimM at “het Zilvermeer”

For the 2nd time this year, I went out for a model shoot. I had arranged to go to the Keiheuvel in Balen with KimM. It turned out we were not alone: there was a big mountain bike contest going on. And we wanted peace and quiet for our photo shoot.

Fortunately, there is plenty of nice quiet places in the area. We turned the car around and drove to the Zilvermeer in Mol for the shoot.

Thank you Kim for a fun afternoon!

A couple more photos can be found in KimM’s album on my gallery.

1st Photo Shoot of the Year

Last Saturday, I joined fellow photographer Sven Michiels for my first photo shoot of the year. A couple weeks ago, Sven came up with the idea to go to the Ardennes for a model shoot in the snow. I had never done a model shoot, so didn’t want to let this opportunity go by. But since snow was uncertain, we decided to seek shelter in de abandoned buildings of Anco in Turnhout.

I had a little experience with models: I participated in 2 shooting days organized by Belgium Digital last summer. And those shoots got me excited about working with models. I didn’t realize there’s quite a lot of work involved in preparing a shoot: finding the right models, location, equipment …

It was a very cold day last Saturday, but it all turned out well. I had a lot of fun, as did Dasha, Natascha and Sayanna (our models for the day). I know I still have a lot to learn, but still I am pleased with the results. Here are a few samples:

Full album in our gallery.

Thank you Dasha, Natascha and Sayanna for the shoot. I hope we can do it again sometime. And a big thank you to the people of Hillewaere Turnhout of allowing us to use the location.

Rolling Stones Fan Day (part 2)

I went to the 2nd annual international Rolling Stones fan day yesterday. A friend of mine is an active member with Sticky Fingers, the Belgian Rolling Stones fan club. It was a fun evening with lots and lots for rock’n’roll. They had 2 tribute bands on stage and I promised my friend I would shoot some photos. I’ve put a few photos from yesterday night on my gallery.

DIFO Member

I joined DIFO, a photography club in Oud-Turnhout yesterday. I feel small compared to all those photographers with many years of experience behind them.

I showed them 2 of my photos from our New York trip and shot I took at the German WWII cemetery. I got a few helpful tips for the future on how to improve the shots, but overall they liked my work. Made me feel a little proud. I’m sure I’m gonna have a lot of fun working with the DIFO members.

Baseball Thriller

I’ve been watching Major League Baseball all week this week. Digital TV is a great invention! You know I don’t like to watch sports on TV. I’m just not a big fan of sports. But since we’ve got digital TV, we can watch NASN, and they’ve got MLB playoffs right now.

And I just love to watch a game of baseball. I’m a big fan of the Atlanta Braves. Probably an heritage from my Barco days. Anyway, today was game 4 of the National League playoffs and the Braves had to beat the Houston Astros to stay in the race. The Braves were playing a pretty good game until the Astros hit a grand slam in the 7th inning and tied the game in the 8th. It took another 10 innings to decide the game. I’ve never been so excited over sports as I was tonight. But why did the Braves have to lose? Dasm, would have loved to see them win the World Series.

gallery.victorie.com v6.0 Online

Just a quick note to let all of you know that I have finished the theme for our gallery. Our blog and our gallery should have pretty much the same look and feel now.

Model Shoot Gallery Online

The gallery with photos from the Belgium Digital shooting day at the coalmine of Waterschei is now complete. I have put close to a 100 photos online. It has been quite a task to go through all of the photos (over 750 in total) select the best ones and get them ready for publishing.

I finished this gallery a couple of days back, but with didn’t get around to posting it on the blog due to all the changes to it. If you would like to see more, check out the full gallery.

Once again: thank you to everyone involved in the organization of the shooting day and of course a very big thank you to all the models.

Gallery of New York Holiday On Line

We have been struggling with our gallery software for some time. That has kept us from putting photos from our holiday to New York City on line. The problems have not been solved yet. In fact, I can’t seem to put his finger on the problem.

Never the less, we wanted to bring the New York City gallery on line fast. So we opted to upload the photos in a smaller size. We hope you will enjoy the photos. Here’s just a few samples; the complete gallery holds 107 photos (our biggest gallery to date).
