3 days in Seattle
My best friend and I travelled to the USA to celebrate my birthday last December. Our 1st stop was Seattle, WA. Tucked away on the northwest coast of the continental USA, the city is home to the Boeing Company and grunge. But also to the hideout of Jessica Alba’s character of the turn-of-the-century TV series Dark Angel.
Wait, did you say “home of the Boeing Company”? Yeah! Unfortunately, a union strike closed Boeing’s Everett plant and their factory tour during our visit. Bummer! Fortunately, Seattle is home to The Museum of Flight, one of the best aviation museums in the US. Well worth a visit when you’re in town.
The museum kept us busy for pretty much a day. They’re collection is massive and includes a Boeing B-29, a Lockheed M-21–a CIA version of the infamous Blackbird–and the original Red Barn that served as Boeing’s 1st workshop.

Traveling with me equals eating at some of the coolest spots in town. And something with music. ‘Cause there is always music. I found a cool record store that serves tasty breakfast. Easy Street Records hosted a Pearl Jam concert at one time. Also found a soul food kitchen that served the yummiest southern BBQ.
Neatly nested under the Space Needle is the Museum of Pop Culture. The building is designed by famous architect Frank Gehry. Their collection covers most popular culture since the 1950’s: music, movies, TV series, popular art, … From Mulder and Scully’s FBI badges from the hit TV series X-Files and the Star Trek communicator to Beyoncé’s stage outfits and a massive tornado of guitars.

As night falls over the city, we said goodbye to the city of Seattle and continued our trip to our final destination. Wanna know where we headed next? Stay tuned for a future post.
