New Year’s Resolution

Around this time of year, everyone is wishing everyone else all the best for the New Year. Good health, success, fame & fortune, peace & happiness. At least for a few days every year, world peace seems to be on everyone’s mind.

I promised myself not to wish everybody well this year. I have only 1 wish: I hope that all your wishes for everyone around the world may come true. ’cause then we would all have what we really want. And that would make me very happy.

Springsteen in Antwerp

I went to see Springsteen‘s show in Antwerp yesterday evening. After having missed his Antwerp show last year due to emotional stress, I was not sure if I wanted to go this time. It took me a lot of courage to go. I did not have as much fun as I usual do at a Springsteen show. But I managed to stay until the end. And that was quite an accomplishment.

And yes… the slogan on my t-shirt was meant for you.

Pearl Harbor Remembered

On the morning of December 7, 1941 the Imperial Japanese Navy launched a surprise attack on the American naval base of Pearl Harbor, HI. 2350 persons—military and civilian—lost their lives during the attack. Of the military personnel lost at Pearl Harbor, 1177 were from the USS Arizona. 1 aerial bomb struck the Arizona’s forward magazine causing a catastrophic explosion that sunk the battleship in just 9 minutes.

Until today the wreck of the USS Arizona remains a memorial to those perished that day.

On December 7th, 2001 I attended the ceremonies to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the attack. It was and still is a very moving experience for me. And since then, I will pause on December 7th to remember the attack.

Arnhem Revisited

Springsteen Live

He was a day late–due to a severe cold–but Springsteen climbed the stage at the Gelredome in Arnhem (NL) tonight for my 1st show in the Magic tour. My 25th Springsteen show ever.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Bruce Springsteen & the E-Street Band live is the best rock show in the world; ever. Period! I love the show. The songs from the new album need a little work live but overall they were great. And the new Reason to Believe is a blast. And I got listen to Tunnel of Love and Santa Claus is Coming to Town live for the very first time in my life… Happy happy joy joy!

Next stop: the Antwerp Sportpaleis in about 10 days.

Springsteen Show Arnhem Postponed

Bruce Springsteen - MagicI have a ticket for Bruce Springsteen’s concert in Arnhem (the Netherlands) tonight. I was gonna go there with a couple of friends. But as we left for Arnhem this afternoon, we received a phone call saying that the show has been postponed until tomorrow night. Springsteen has a cold and he seems to have a problem with his voice. Let’s hope he’s fully recovered by tomorrow. Stay tuned for more…

Car Wrecked

Someone slammed into my car tonight. I had just left a customer and was on my way home when my car got hit from behind. I did not get hurt, but I think that my car is total loss.

Workshop at Antwerp Photo Museum

The good people at the Antwerp photo museum and Centrum voor Beeldexpressie organized a day of workshops for hobby photographers today. I opted for the model photography workshop (of course). The workshop was led by An Nelissen and Uli Schillebeeckx. And we had the privilege to work with 5 models of FashionMove model agency.

It was an educational experience. I believe that you can only learn a trade through lots of experience and small tips. And I am happy if I only pick up 1 little thing on a workshop like today. I picked up a few this time, so I’ll have to say this workshop was just perfect.

Thanks everyone! There’s a couple of images of the workshop in my gallery.
