Help Saving Springsteen Heritage

E-Street Band in Front of TillieI need your help saving a little bit of Springsteen heritage!

For years Springsteen fans all over the world are tryin’ to save Tillie, a beautiful neon lit mural that once graced one of the walls of the Palace amusement park in Asbury Park, NJ. It took a lot of rallying, money and hard work to make sure it did not perish when they tore down the Palace.

Four years after Springsteen fans helped rescue three iconic murals from the Palace in Asbury Park, and two years since developers were supposed to relocate the murals into preservation sheds, neither the developers nor the City of Asbury Park have honored their promises to preserve the murals including the smiling face of Tillie.

To help preserve Tillie and the other murals, before time runs out, please the preservation petition at www.palacepetition.com and ask your friends and family to help.

I made this photo in 1998, on my 1st trip to New York and New Jersey. The Palace amusement park and Tillie’s face were in pretty good shape then. Not long after, part of the building collapsed and it was later torn down.

Shoot with Saske at Home

I shot with Saske at her place this afternoon. Just a quick little shoot, nothing fancy. But it was fun to do. Thanks Saske!

On Another Side of Time?

You’re the one I think about time after time
You’re the one that comes to me,
Visions in the night
I want to complicate your feelings
I want to heat you up inside
Yeah, I wanna make you mine

I’ll be your sun coming up
I’ll be your dog days
I’ll be your new morning
Kiss you baby
I’ll be the bluebird singing
I’ll keep you warm
I’ll take you deep in

Gonna make my bed beside you
In the bluebells of your soul
Gonna slip into your river, linger in your shoals
And when the stars are bright like fireflies
And the night is black as coal
I’m gonna make you mine

On another side of time
Before the sea runs dry
On another side of time
Where the love runs high
I’m gonna make you mine
Make you mine, make you mine

Miss Fashion (1)

20 lovely young ladies took the stage at Carre in Willebroek last night to compete for the titel of Miss Fashion 2009. Yesterday’s semi finals is the first of a series of events photo club Apertura will be covering for this organization.

Karen of FashionMove invited us to do a series of photo shoots. We kindly accepted. And yesterday Glenn and myself headed down to Carre to shoot the contestants as they walked down the catwalk. Unfortunately, five of them did not make it to the finals. But, you will see more shots of the girls that did make it on this site and others in the near future.

European Cup Waterski

I don’t shoot action sports very often. But today I went down to Geel to watch the European Cup Waterski. Shot a couple of decent photos there.

It is amazing how close those boats come to the edge. They get as close as a couple of meters to the concrete walls of the canal. And guess what… I sat in the splash zone and got really hosed.

Dasm!

I should have been at the Giants Stadium tonight when Bruce played Jersey Girl

I could have… I would have… I should have… Next year Bruce! I promise!

Voice Activated Lightstand

My friend and colleague Chris Bailleul invited me to tag along for a strobist shoot at a little lake. He needed someone to assist him with the lighting. Basically, he needed someone to stand in the water and hold the flash. That is what we call a “Voice Activated Lightstand” at Apertura. I agreed to help him if I got an action shot. So here we go…
