It’s always a lot of fun to shoot these tone-on-tone sets. With the right model, an outfit that has the same color as the backdrop will create a certain atmosphere. Kirsten’s light bronze skin tone and golden hair matched beautifully with the orange of the latex. Add a little black and a little fluff, and orange truly is the new black!
A shoot from the very popular series shoot-got-postponed-due-to-you-know-what… Here’s the 1st results from my shoot with Liz. We were supposed to do this shoot in the spring of 2021. The pandemic forced us to postpone twice. This time we pushed through.
And it was worthwhile! We had a lot of fun. And Liz is a real cool lady. I hope to see her again in my studio sometime soon. Thank you for the shoot Liz!
My black-on-turquoise photos with Axelle turned out to be a smash hit on Instagram. It turns out that #balletheels is what made them popular. I guess I need to shoot more ballet heels from now on. And I did, ’cause for my latest shoot with Shannety, I turned to ballet heels. Combined with new gorgeous black latex it was easy to come up with an outfit. A brand new corset from DeMask and… Ohlala!… That neck corset…
I had something else in mind too though.
I was totally blown away by the work of Jada and David when I discovered them a few weeks ago. Their use of color, perspective and geometric shapes is just… D I V I N E! You should definitely check’em out. My studio is not suited for plywood sets like theirs unfortunately.
So I gave myself an assignment: I challenged myself to recreate one of their backgrounds in Photoshop. It turned out to be quite a challenge but it was a lot of fun. And once I completed that 1st pic, I let my imagination run free and tried to create something of my own.
I am blessed to have a few models that I consider resident models. Actually, I consider them to be good friends that happen to be models. Romi is one of those young ladies that grace my studio regularly. We shoot these when we last met for lunch.Yup, I am truly blessed… I get to have lunch and drinks with my favorite models… And shoot their portraits. Yeah!
My friend and model Romi has joined my personal protection detail. Armed to the teeth–with airsoft guns obviously–she makes me feel very safe in my photo studio. All in good fun of course guys! ’cause neither me nor Romi are mean, dangerous or aggressive. As a matter of fact, Romi is the sweetest young lady you’ll ever meet.
This is how things start… A little conversation between Axelle and I:
Me: Axelle, you’ve been a ballet dancer, right?
Axelle: Eumh… Yeah! Why?
Me: I have a little crazy idea for a shoot…
Axelle: Ooooh boy. Do I even wanna know?
Me: I don’t know. But you’ll get to wear latex.
Axelle: OK! Count me in!
Well, that was sorta the way it went. I did give her more details after that. Just as I expected, she didn’t back out. She was all in. And she must have done like 50 squads to get the 1st part of this set just right. When she started to get cramps halfway through the shoot, I played the nice guy and gave her a little stool to continue the rest of the set.
Axelle is wearing black latex from William Wilde and Westward Bound for this set. And she wears either high heels from Pleaser Shoes or ballet heels from Kassiopeya. All from my personal collection.
This set came with the obligatory hair-flip pic. A tradition Axelle and I started with her previous shoot. And a tradition we intend to continue for a little while.
I still love the idea of a little black dress. It might be the simplest of outfits but it brings out the natural beauty of a model. OK, I’ll admit: I prefer a latex little black dress… And shiny black high heels. But still…
That latex little black dress gave us so many options to shoot. Let me demonstrate.
Halloween is just a few days away and Zana has found her perfect outfit. She said she wants to go trick’n’treating as dark bunny. I hope she lets me tag along for the candy.
On top of that, Zana’s beautiful face and lush hairdo makes for absolutely gorgeous portraits. In color and black & white. 1 outfit, so many options. These pics were a lot of fun to do. Thanks Zana!
Zana and I had a shoot planned for April 2020 when you-know-what reared its ugly head. All we could do, was postpone. And postpone again. And again. And again until finally we felt it was safe to shoot earlier this summer. We had hoped for a beautiful summer’s day so we could shoot outside. But instead, we got a chilly drizzle. We retreated to my studio where we shot this series on a lilac background. So, this was sorta a Purple Rain shoot.
We had a lot of fun though. And the results turned out just great. Thank you for a fun shoot Zana! Let’s do that again some time.
After a very long wait–due to you-know-what–my dear friend Romi returned to my photo studio.
Somewhere in the middle of the pandemic, Romi shared a pic of her wearing this beautiful red dress. I told her that would be the perfect dress to have a go at something we tried before: a vanilla dress and latex gloves. So of we went… With a red dress, red latex gloves on a red backdrop.
Tell me though… When you see this pics, what’s the 1st song that comes to mind? I bet you, you think of that 1 song from a few years back. Me, I’m a little bit older… I think of that 1980’s ballad by Chris de Burgh. Lady in Red. Let’s be honest. Who would not want to dance the night away, with this lady in red? ‘Cause after all, take away the latex gloves and Romi still looks awesome!
And to be honest… These pics look good in black and white too… I mean: Romi looks good in black and white too.
It seemed like an eternity since Shannety and I had done a pink themed shoot. So I dug up a very classy black latex outfit and my pink backdrop for this rendition of Pink by Shannety. With latex from Lüllepop, Pandora Deluxe, Westward Bound and Mico Couture, and high heels from Pleaser Shoes, this is the most mix’n’match outfit I’ve put together in years.
I think the outfit looks absolutely gorgeous on Shannety. What do you think?
